Inward and Upward: 6sense’s Commitment to Employee Growth and Advancement

“We have a saying on the People Team that we want 6sense to be the best stop and next stop in your career. Meaning career growth through internal mobility is a priority for us,” says Marcy Spencer, Sr. Leadership Development Program Manager. 

Through several programs and initiatives, 6sense has fostered an environment where employees can take the next step in their careers — wherever that may lead them.  

Programs and initiatives designed for growth 

Motivating people to achieve their full potential requires providing them with tools and resources to learn the skills they’ll need. 

“One of our values is growth mindset,” says Marcy. “We have several programs and initiatives designed to foster a learning culture.” 

Some of those programs include: 

  • “Owning Your Career Path” sessions. Virtual live training sessions that give 6sensors time and space to determine their career purpose, craft a career development plan, and assess their readiness.  
  • Manage2Lead, a program available to any individual contributor at 6sense who is interested in becoming a manager. The program provides resources to build a manager toolkit. 
  • An accelerated leadership program designed to identify future leaders at 6sense. 

6sense places huge priority on these initiatives and career growth as a whole. There is an internal goal to have all 6sensors achieve 40 hours of yearly learning. 6sensors can use grow6, our learning management system (LMS), to find live and online training, track their progress, and learn from their peers. 

By encouraging people across all levels of 6sense to think about career development, the overall organization grows stronger. Participation in these events leads to increased visibility across the entire company (and networking/interacting with people in different departments) and helps fast track 6sensors to the next step in their career. 

The results speak for themselves: in 2024 30% of our employees were either promoted or transferred to other departments, and 28% of our open roles were filled with internal talent

Success stories 

We’ve had the chance to catch up with a few 6sensors to discuss how 6sense has set them up for success; or how, as a leader, they try to foster that sense of growth. Let’s hear from them. 

“I moved up to a role as a commercial account executive, which was a big step forward to go from sourcing meetings to being customer-facing. But the team was so helpful and open to sharing what worked for them. From a cultural standpoint, we wanted to win together. And I had incredible managers who instilled confidence and set me up with playbooks I could use to hit the ground running and quickly learn the fundamentals of a great discovery and sales process.” 

Melissa Holtzer joined 6sense as an enterprise seller and has successfully transitioned to a leadership role within the customer success team:
