6sense is a fast-growing company with incredible employees all over the world. Our Employee Spotlight series introduces you to the people behind the technology that’s revolutionizing B2B revenue creation.
Adaptability and innovation are keys to success in technology today. At 6sense, these qualities are embodied in Aditya Chandra, VP of Platform Engineering based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
Since joining the company just over a year ago, Aditya has made significant strides in our engineering efforts, with a wealth of experience that brings a unique perspective to the team.
His career spans nearly three decades, beginning with his role as a contractor at an antivirus company and winding through various technical and leadership positions, including a stint in government banking. Throughout his journey, one theme has remained constant: a passion for building and enhancing technological infrastructure. Before joining 6sense, Aditya served as the VP of DevOps at Dream11, where he managed operations at a massive scale, catering to over 200 million active users.
Now, as a leader at 6sense, Aditya is channeling his extensive experience and innovative spirit into driving our platform forward. We chatted with him about his journey and how he’s helping to shape the future of our company.
Embracing Change: From Banking to Tech Innovation
Aditya’s breadth of experience has given him a unique perspective on the industry, allowing him to approach problems from multiple angles. At 6sense, Aditya has found an environment that not only accepts but celebrates adaptability, saying people are “extremely receptive to my ideas.” This openness is a hallmark of the 6sense culture, fostering an environment where innovation thrives.
In his role leading the platform engineering organization, Aditya bridges the gap between complex technical concepts and practical business solutions.
“We are a catalyst team for the other engineering teams…we make sure that engineers are successful.” This focus on enablement is crucial, ensuring that developers have what they need to build cutting-edge solutions.
The Power of Attitude: 6sense’s Secret Weapon
Aditya says a quality that sets 6sense apart from his previous experiences is the power of attitude. “There are two things,” he explains, “aptitude and attitude.” At 6sense, he’s found a team that combines both intelligence and a positive, can-do spirit.
The impact of positivity extends beyond simply getting things done. It creates a workplace where new ideas are welcome and diverse perspectives are valued. A collaborative spirit, combined with the team’s aptitude and attitude, forms the foundation of 6sense’s culture, he says.
Leadership Through Empowerment
At the heart of Aditya’s leadership philosophy lies a profound commitment to empowerment. As the head of platform engineering, he believes in creating an environment where team members can thrive and innovate without unnecessary barriers. “Empathy comes first for me, beyond anything else,” he explains.
Aditya describes his role using a sports analogy: “I treat myself as a coach. I’m not a player or a team manager.” This allows him to provide high-level direction while encouraging his team to take ownership of their work. “My job is to make sure I’m available for my team on the sidelines,” he says. “Tell them what needs to be done, cheer for them, protect them when the time comes, and celebrate with them when they win.”
Aditya also tries to foster a bottom-up culture where ideas can emerge from any level of the organization.
A Year of Exciting Changes and Challenges
Aditya says his first year at 6sense has been exhilarating. “6sense has given me a lot of independence, and as a leader, you need that to foster innovation,” he says. This autonomy has allowed him to drive improvements that benefit both the internal teams and, ultimately, 6sense customers.
For Aditya, joining 6sense was not just about the role but also about the cultural fit and the opportunity to work under leadership that values tech innovation and has deep involvement in product development. He found a perfect match in 6sense’s co-founders, particularly in his manager, Viral Bajaria. “I get to work with a co-founder, which is huge in itself.”
Aditya’s advice for aspiring tech professionals is to embrace flexibility, stay curious, and be open to new challenges. “The tech world is vast and ever evolving, and being adaptable is key to staying relevant.”
